Questions and answers

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

  1. On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?
  2. Enter your account's email address and tap Send code.
  3. We email you a 6-digit code from noreply@mail.prodstack.live. It is valid for 15 minutes and works once.
  4. Enter the code, choose a new password of at least 12 characters, and tap Reset password.

You are signed in on that phone right away, and every other device is signed out. We also send a short email to confirm the password was changed.

The reset code didn't arrive

Check your spam folder, and make sure you typed the email address of your Stash account. For privacy, the app shows the same message whether or not an account exists, and only an existing account gets a code.

You can ask for up to 3 codes in 15 minutes; each new code replaces the one before. A code allows 5 tries. Still stuck? Write to us from the account's email address.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: on the Capture tab, tap the gear icon at the top to open Settings, tap Delete account, enter your password and confirm. Everything in the account is deleted at once.

No longer have the app, or forgot your password? See Delete your account for how to ask by email, and what gets deleted.

Can I use Stash without an account?

Yes. On the sign-in screen, tap Continue without an account. Your ideas stay on that phone only: they are not backed up or synced, and deleting the app deletes them. Links and feature lists need an account. You can create one at any time.

How do I get a copy of my data?

Open Settings and, under Data, tap Export JSON or Export Markdown. JSON keeps everything and can be brought back with Import JSON; Markdown is easy to read in any notes app.

Does Stash work offline?

Yes. Changes you make offline wait on your phone and sync when you are back online. If you sign out while changes are still waiting, they are discarded; the app warns you before that happens.

Is my voice recorded or uploaded?

No. Stash never stores your audio or sends it to us; only the text is saved. On iPhone, speech is turned into text on the phone itself. On Android, Stash uses Google's speech recognition service, which may process the audio on Google's servers. Details are in the privacy policy.

Why does Stash ask for the microphone, camera or photos?

Only for the features that need them: the microphone and speech recognition for voice capture, the camera and photo library to attach a picture to an idea. Stash asks the first time you use each feature. If you say no, everything else keeps working, and you can change your mind in your phone's settings.

Who can see my ideas?

Only you. Each account can reach only its own data, and photos are shown through private links that expire after an hour. Stash has no sharing, ads or analytics. When you add a link, our server visits that page once to fetch its title and icon.
